I think I've done something to anger the ear gods... seriously this is the second time I've been woken up by one of my ears screaming at me for having a head full of gunge (thankfully, I have decongestants on hand today). Being woken up far earlier than is sensible is awesome fun you know. What's worse is that I have actually read all the fic that I've marked to be read later so I'm just wandering around the internet with nothing much to do.

*shakes fist at ear* I'd much rather be asleep you know.

Oh LJ, I have abandoned you. I'm sorry, it's just that I've had very little to report of late. Well actually I'm sure that's a lie but I've been busy and Cambridge-y. I'm no longer failing at essay writing but I've found I do fail quite hard at practical calculations, which will be fun later because all my subjects have practical exams!

I've started using Last-fm which is pretty awesome because I'm often in the mood to listen to music I've not listened to before but might actually like. I'd been using it before to find bands like the ones I already like when I was in the mood to buy new music but not just at random.

Oh my god I really don't want to work, but I really should because there is stuff I need to do and it would be really convenient if it was out of the way but I just can't make myself.

Also it was pretty chilly this morning and I'd like it noted that I don't appreciate this sudden cold snap, weather.

I'm writing my first essay and failing so hard at it. It doesn't help that it's on the advantages and disadvantages of PCR and I can't think of any advantages other than "It's handy!" which I'm sure won't get me my marks. I should have finished it yesterday but I spent more time complaining about the essay than actually doing it, stupid past me. I hate her, she left everything for me to do now without any feelings of remorse and went off and enjoyed herself yesterday.

You know, over the holiday I had forgotten just how workful Cambridge really is, I'm not overwhelmed yet but I can easily see myself heading in that direction.

Also we had eggs left over from cake baking so I decided that French toast was an awesome idea and set out to get some cinnamon only to find that the centre of Cambridge was entirely out of cinnamon. What were people doing with it? I took to calling it the great cinnamon shortage of '09 but it was remedied yesterday so calling it "great" would be something of an overstatement.

I'm developing such a strange collection of WTF pictures in my pictures folder thanks in the most part to [info]capslock_bleach and their WTF Wednesdays.

I really want some new icons too.

I had my first Pathology lecture and lab yesterday and they were both horrible. The lecture because the lecturer was confusing and ran on and used different names and abbreviations in his handout to what he was actually saying. The lab was awful because it was blindingly easy and completely didn't need to take the two hours that it did.

In other news my skin hates me, well it hates Persil washing powder and is making sure I'm in no doubt of this. Stupid itchy washing power. I completely didn't believe my sister when she complained that E45 made it feel worse before it felt better and called it the hot cream.

On an entirely unrelated note this is amazing and really makes me want to watch Kung-Fu Zombie even though I know it will be crap.

I've been meaning to get around to updating this for ages! I got into Cambridge almost a week a go (on 30th September) and have settled in rather nicely into Newnham's Strachey North. I'm still not entirely sold on this Newnham malarkey but the rooms are tolerable even if their policies on blu-tack, white tack and every other useful sticky-type substance you would normally use to put up posters is ridiculous ("Never ever because these things are the work of the devil" or something) and the kitchen is lovely (a table!) and their bandwidth limit is AWESOME. Apparently girls here use more bandwidth and complain about restrictions because they had a gig last year but have upped it to 2 and if you go over that in 24 hours they slow you down a bit. So internet isn't going to be a problem here. Also having three people I know really well on the same corridor is nice.

What's also odd is that freshers' week seems far less stressful, I mean it's understandable because I'm not meeting lots of brand new people and I know what's going on but I'm far more comfortable talking to people and it's almost as if university has made me better at coping with speaking to people (god forbid!)

OMG the Roman Polanski media coverage is making me want to choke a bitch. HE RAPED A CHILD. No he has not "suffered enough" because the crime he committed was terrible. Show me the shunning he received! He won an Oscar for christ's sake that is not ostracism! I get the feeling I should step away from the internet before I start to hate people forever.

Hmph I'm sick and it's all my sister's fault, she couldn't keep her cold to herself. This means I'm feeling whiny and hard to please which isn't helped by a distinct lack of fic on my flist today. What is the internet good for if not providing me fic? *pouts* I have had to resort to reading my good fic bookmark folder most of which is sadly less good than I thought when I put them in there but it's relatively amusing nonetheless.

I've just come back from a lovely holiday in the Lake District (for certain values of "just" I guess) and much fun was had by all and the weather was amazing (it was so good that I suspect that the weather is planning something).

But in other more important (and dorky) news, I think I'm in love with the Bleach musicals. It's something I already like but really campy and silly with the shinigami bursting into song and dancing. Hitsugaya is now forever in my mind a really good singer who dances like he's in a boy band and Byakuya is a diva who just wants to sing and dances prettily when he forgets that he's the very serious and cold Kuchiki Byakuya. It also makes me ship Gin/Kira so hard because the actors have really good chemistry and Kira's actor has no qualms about being hopelessly in love with/entirely dependent on Gin. And it doesn't hurt that he is adorkable with his squiggly eyebrows and utterly convincing terror.

In short there is singing with really nice harmonies (even if a few aren't as good singers as others) and fighting and awesome silliness. Also Hinamori has an awesomely awesome voice. This link has many of the musicals subbed so if you even care you can flick through. Although this is long (and in two parts and unsubbed) it is highly amusing although it needs a little explanation: the person who normally sings it is Matsumoto but I think her actor was pregnant when this was being performed so the entire cast apart from those who normally sing it (Hitsugaya, Gin and Hinamori) plays rock-paper-scissors for her part and hilarity ensues.

This is the usual version (after Ichigo and Rukia have their hand holding song) not laced with hoyay and Kira being cute. I could link at least a dozen more songs but I won't because I'll be here all night otherwise.

The house smells!!! *flails ineffectually*

The plumbing in mine and my sister's bathroom decided that it was time to back up and be disgusting and my dad has spent the last five hours or so trying to sort it. He had to go and buy stronger drain clearing things (I do not wish to know how bad it is so I'm staying farrrr away and I don't know what he's using just that it sounds serious and mechanical. For serious, he's wearing safety goggles).

It's straining my dickensian principles to the max!!!
